In the area around Boxholm, cheese has been made since time immemorial. In fact, northern Småland and southern Östergötland held an important place in cheese history long before Boxholm's dairy started production in 1890 – then as part of the centuries-old ironworks.

The 130-year-old cheese tradition is not something the people of Boxholm take lightly. Boxholm cheese is not just food; it is part of our identity – as important now as it was then. Deeply rooted in the countryside and its people, the profound knowledge of the craft has been passed down from generation to generation.

Handcrafted Growth

From this expertise, Sweden’s first commercially produced cream cheese was born in 1952, which has since become one of Sweden’s most iconic cheeses, alongside Svecia, Herrgård, and Prästost.

This heritage lives on. A Boxholm cheese should be made the way it has always been made: with the right recipe, the right ingredients, and turned by hand by the master cheesemakers in Boxholm – all for the sake of great taste.

For everything we do – move, grow, exercise, work, play, or breathe – our bodies require sustenance. Milk is high in calcium and proteins, which assist to keep our muscles, bones, and teeth healthy. Vitamins B2 and B12, which promote our energy metabolism and nervous system, are found in milk. That's why we are producing natural and organic milk.
